Terminal 21: Asok's "airport" shopping mall and its food court

Updated on October 5, 2026

Terminal 21 is the shopping mall at Asok, on Sukhumvit, where each floor is styled after a major world city: Paris, Tokyo, London, Istanbul, San Francisco, Rome, the Caribbean and Hollywood. The corridors are designed like those of an airport terminal, with "departures" signs above the shops. The mall is attached to Asok BTS station and Sukhumvit MRT station, which makes it very easy to fit into a day on public transport. Allow two hours to walk round, have lunch at the food court and enjoy the air conditioning, a good idea in the midday heat or in the rain.

Highlights

The hall and its escalators

The hall and its escalators

The big glass atrium, seen here from above, carries the mall's name in large letters across the glass roof. From the escalators that cross the floors, you can see the stalls of the ground-floor street and the crowd spreading out between the "cities". The easiest way to see the mall is to go straight to the top, then work your way down floor by floor.

Terminal 21 stands at the junction of Sukhumvit Road and Soi 19, in the heart of Asok's business and hotel district. This photo, taken from above, gives an idea of the landscape: glass towers, hotels and office blocks around a junction that has two metro stations.

The city floors

Each level has its own decor: red phone boxes and double-decker buses in "London", big posters and an Eiffel Tower in "Paris", torii gates and lanterns in "Tokyo", a bazaar in "Istanbul", a San Francisco bridge. The shops are mostly small independent fashion and accessory brands, more affordable than in the big Siam malls: see our guide to shopping in Siam to compare.

The Pier 21 food court

On the 5th floor, the Pier 21 food court is known for food-court prices well below those of the mall's restaurants, and for good Thai street dishes. You pay with a prepaid card loaded at the counter; any unused balance is refunded before you leave. For similar places, see our guide to Bangkok's food courts.

The themed toilets

The toilets have become a curiosity: each floor has its own decor, and they are clean and free. Our guide to toilets in Bangkok gives other reliable places.

Tips

At the food court, keep your prepaid card until the end and ask for the balance to be refunded before leaving the mall, within the time limit shown at the counter. The air conditioning is strong: bring a light jacket. Shop prices are marked: you do not haggle here as you would in a market. If you spend more than 2,000 baht in a shop displaying "VAT Refund for Tourists", ask for the P.P.10 form at the till (details in our guide to shopping in Bangkok). To compare with the Siam malls and the riverside, see also Iconsiam.
