Which ticket suits your plans?
| Ticket or option | Main appeal | Best for | Check before booking |
|---|---|---|---|
| Mahanakhon with options | Rooftop and glass floor | A memorable first observation-deck visit | Admission slot, rooftop access and weather rules |
| Baiyoke observation | City views and revolving platform | A visit focused on the panorama | Included floors and any drink |
| Baiyoke Skybox buffet | A meal and views together | A longer evening | Outdoor seating, duration and deck access |
| Another rooftop or Ferris wheel | Atmosphere or a shorter outing | Part of an evening plan | Admission, drinks and weather |
Our guide to Bangkok Viewpoints introduces the places. Here, first decide whether you want an observation visit, photographs or dinner. Adding food does not improve the view. A simpler ticket may be the right choice if you have already booked a restaurant elsewhere.
Mahanakhon: choose the ticket for rooftop access
The offer Mahanakhon SkyWalk with options offers access to observation spaces, with slot variants and add-ons. The official website distinguishes the interior observatory on the 74th floor and the roof on the 78th floor. The glass floor is located at 310 meters; the announced highest point reaches 314 meters. Do not confuse these marks with the height of each interior space.
Choose the option based on the admission time given. A day rate may require a final entry before the sunset period. Also read the conditions of presence on site: the validity of a ticket does not necessarily mean unlimited access throughout the day. Check the last admission time for your option before planning a long wait at the top.
For a first visit, choose a ticket that clearly includes the spaces you want to see. A drink, a digital photograph or an additional experience is only useful if you want it. The BTS Chong Nonsi makes it easy to arrive, but leave room to reach the entrance, check the ticket and board. Our guide to Mahanakhon SkyWalk completes the references on the site.
Sunset: book an admission slot, not a clear sky
Aim for a time slot before evening light, without scheduling a last-minute arrival. Check the sunset time for the day of your visit and compare it with the ticket's last admission. Queuing to get in and waiting for elevators can reduce your time on the roof. A timed reservation cannot guarantee a particular photograph.
Rain, thunderstorms or other conditions may cause the rooftop to close. The Mahanakhon offer consulted describes return possibilities in certain circumstances, while presenting cancellation notices which require careful reading. Have the rule of your option confirmed: refund, new entry and validity period are different issues. If the terrace is your only motivation, prefer a reservation that allows flexibility.
Blue skies at street level do not guarantee great visibility in the distance. A haze or an episode of particles can limit the panorama. On a short trip, it can make sense to book closer to the visit rather than commit an entire evening well in advance. Keep dinner separate so you have an alternative if the weather changes.
Baiyoke: observation without a buffet
The Baiyoke Observation Deck and revolving platform ticket is worth considering if your main aim is to see Bangkok from the tower. The itinerary lists the observation deck on the 77th floor and the platform on the 84th floor. Check the possible presence of a drink and the spaces actually included in your option. Don't assume that a buffet is part of any entry to Baiyoke.
I would choose this ticket for a relatively simple visit, then having the freedom to dine elsewhere. Photographs through windows may show reflections; also plan to look at the scenery without a device. If you're afraid of heights, look at the images of the spaces and choose the formula that you feel comfortable with. No obligation to test a glass floor to appreciate a city from above.
The tower is located in the Pratunam area. Plan the journey from your hotel and what you will do afterwards; a short distance on a map says little about traffic or the walking route. Our page Pratunam and Ratchathewi helps integrate stopping into a cohesive day. Avoid driving across town just to use a buffet extra you don't want.
Baiyoke Skybox: a meal with a view
The offer Baiyoke buffet on the 81st floor with outdoor Skybox combines dining and views. Check that the reservation corresponds to the exterior area and look at the access conditions for the other floors. A meal on a high floor and a ticket to the rotating platform are not the same thing, although some packages combine the two.
Ask for service duration, arrival time and drinks included. If you are traveling as a couple, look at the organization of the tables; if there are several of you, confirm that you can sit together. Report any dietary constraints before payment. The word “buffet” does not guarantee a suitable response to an allergy or a strict diet.
This option is best suited to an evening where the meal is part of the experience. Compare its total with an observation ticket and a separate dinner. We do not publish a common range for these different services. A supplement may be reasonable for a well-defined table and unnecessary for a visit whose sole objective is the panorama.
Other paid viewpoints: compare what you are buying
The Asiatique Ferris wheel and the rooftops can complete an evening, with different points of view. Check their current terms directly before you travel. In a bar, the budget often depends on a drink purchase, a table reservation or an announced minimum, rather than a ticket comparable to an observatory. The dress code can also come into play.
Our guide to Bangkok rooftops will help you if your priority is ambiance. For a first visit focused on the height and the terrace, I would choose Mahanakhon. For a different budget or a meal with the view, I would compare the two Baiyoke formulas by checking their exact contents. A single, well-chosen climb is often enough in a short stay.
FAQ
