Asiatique The Riverfront: night market and Ferris wheel

Updated on October 1, 2026

Asiatique The Riverfront is a night market on the banks of the Chao Phraya, on Charoen Krung Road, south of central Bangkok. It occupies the former port of the Danish East Asiatic Company, founded in 1897; the port ceased operating in 1947 and the oldest surviving building dates from 1907. After restoration, the site opened on 27 April 2012: shops, restaurants and attractions are spread across ten warehouses, around a 60-metre Ferris wheel. Entry is free. Allow 2 to 3 hours to wander the lanes, have dinner by the water and ride the Ferris wheel. The free shuttle boat from Sathorn Pier makes it easy to get there in the evening.

The 60-metre Ferris wheel is the landmark of the site. A ride lasts about 15 minutes and looks out over the river, both of its banks and the city's towers. An adult ticket costs 500 baht (prices checked in October 2026).

The brick halls with their arched roofs still carry the Danish company's name on their façade. Today they house clothing, homeware and souvenir shops, as well as restaurants. In the evening, the wooden promenade running alongside them is the main thoroughfare.

This tall ship moored in front of the site is a replica of the Thoon Kramom, a historic vessel, and houses a restaurant. Along the promenade, other restaurants look out over the Chao Phraya, such as The Siam Tea Room and The Crystal Grill House.

Calypso Cabaret and the other attractions

Calypso Cabaret puts on a show of about one hour on site every evening. Families will also find a double-decker carousel, the Mystery Mansion, a gondola ride on two levels, and the Jurassic World: The Experience exhibition. The Muay Thai shows and the Joe Louis puppet theatre that were once based here have closed.
