Where to stay
- By the river: the most romantic, with views of the Chao Phraya and a river shuttle. See riverside hotels.
- Luxury hotels: if the budget allows, Bangkok's grand hotels (spa, pool, breakfasts) are compared in luxury hotels in Bangkok.
- Sukhumvit or Siam: closer to the metro and malls, see where to stay in Bangkok.
Mention the honeymoon when booking: the gesture (flowers, dessert, upgrade) is not guaranteed.
The dinner cruise on the Chao Phraya
This is the moment couples book most. Boats leave in the late afternoon or early evening and pass the lit-up Wat Arun and Grand Palace, with a buffet and music for about two hours. Shared cruises cost roughly 25 to 49 dollars per person depending on the boat and menu; the best-rated private cruise on Klook (Patravadi, 2 hours) is listed at around 734 dollars for the boat (listings checked in October 2026). According to Klook, some sunset departures will not pass Wat Arun and the Grand Palace on 28 October and 6 November 2026. See the dinner cruise on the Chao Phraya.
A rooftop and a massage
- Rooftop: a drink above the city, smart dress required. See the rooftop bars of Bangkok and the Mahanakhon SkyWalk.
- Couples' massage: an hour of Thai massage together is one of the most appreciated gestures. See massage in Bangkok.
- Floating market or temples together: a half day early in the morning, before the heat.
Organising the days
- Day 1: arrival, hotel, dinner cruise.
- Day 2: temples (Grand Palace, Wat Pho) in the morning, massage in the afternoon, rooftop in the evening.
- Day 3: market or boat ride, then off to the beaches.
