Opposite Chatuchak Market, across Kamphaeng Phet Road, Or Tor Kor Market (Talat Or Tor Kor) is a clean covered market, partly air-conditioned, run by the Marketing Organization for Farmers. It is known for the quality of its seasonal fruit, fresh produce and takeaway dishes. This is where Bangkok residents come to buy mangoes, durians and mangosteens, and where travellers have lunch before or after the weekend market. Open every day, it can be visited in one to two hours.
Highlights

The fruit stalls
Mangoes, mangosteens, rambutans, peeled durians packed in trays: seasonal fruit is the reason to come. Vendors often let you taste before you buy. Prices are higher than at neighbourhood markets, but quality is consistent.
The ready-made dishes
Curries, papaya salads, grilled fish, sticky rice and desserts are sold in boxes or to eat on the spot. It is a good place for a varied Thai lunch, with a choice no single stall offers. See our guide to street food in Bangkok.
Fresh and regional produce
Vegetables, herbs, fish, meat, curry pastes and products from the provinces are neatly displayed and labelled. Ideal for taking home curry pastes, dried fruit or rice.
Desserts and drinks
Mango with sticky rice, coconut ice cream, pressed juices: a sweet break before moving on. To go further, see Thai desserts in Bangkok.

Tips
Come in the morning, when the stalls are full and the heat is bearable. The most fragile fruit (mango, durian) travels badly by plane: choose them ripe for the same day. Bring cash in small notes; some stalls accept QR code payments. The market is right next to Chatuchak Market and the Chatuchak, Queen Sirikit and Rot Fai Parks: a picnic is easy to put together. Free entry; fruit prices are shown at the stall.
How to get there
101 Kamphaeng Phet Road, Chatuchak district, Bangkok 10900. MRT Blue Line, Kamphaeng Phet station (exit 3), the market is right opposite. BTS Mo Chit then a few minutes by taxi or on foot. More details in our guide to transport in Bangkok.
