The Bangkok Art and Culture Centre (BACC), 939 Rama I Road, is Bangkok's main contemporary art centre, standing at the Pathumwan intersection, opposite the MBK Center and Siam Discovery shopping malls. Its white, circular building, opened in 2008, brings together exhibition galleries, design shops, cafés and an art library over nine levels. Entry to the exhibitions is free, except for special events. The centre is open Tuesday to Sunday from 10:00 to 20:00, and is linked directly to National Stadium BTS station by a skywalk.
Highlights

The building
A curved façade, a large cylinder on top and a footbridge arriving from the BTS station: the BACC is easy to spot from afar at the Pathumwan intersection. Its forecourt and walkways link it to the MBK Center and Siam Discovery, across the road.

The spiral atrium
Inside, circular ramps wind around a vast light well, served by escalators. From the upper floors, the view down onto the walkways is one of the best-known images of the place.

The main galleries
The major exhibitions, curated by the BACC team and its partners, fill the upper floors, from the 7th to the 9th. They change several times a year and mix painting, installation, photography and video, with a large place for Thai and Southeast Asian artists.
Bangkok Art Biennale 2026
The BACC is one of the ten venues of Bangkok's contemporary art biennale, on the theme "Angels and Mara", from 29 October 2026 to 28 February 2027 according to the Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT), along with Wat Pho, Wat Arun, Museum Siam and the National Museum. Admission conditions (free entry or ticket) had not yet been published in early October 2026: check the biennale website before you go.
The lower levels
Below the main galleries, small art galleries, craft and design shops, bookshops and cafés line the walkways, together with the art library: a cool break between two shopping malls.

Tips
The exhibitions are free; only some events, performances or workshops are ticketed. Check the BACC programme before you come: between two exhibitions, some galleries close while the next one is installed. The escalators go up to the 7th floor and then to the 9th; start at the top and walk back down the ramps. In the heat or a downpour, it is a good stop in the Siam area. Prices and opening hours checked in October 2026.
How to get there
939 Rama I Road, Wang Mai, Pathumwan, Bangkok 10330. BTS Silom Line, National Stadium station, exit 3: a covered skywalk leads straight into the building. From Siam BTS station, one stop away, you can also walk in a few minutes along Rama I Road, past Siam Discovery.
