The major venues
- BACC, Bangkok Art and Culture Centre: the public art centre of the city centre, near Siam, with exhibitions, shops and workshops.
- MOCA Bangkok: a private museum of modern and contemporary Thai art.
- Jim Thompson House: a house museum and art centre that also stages temporary exhibitions.
For a first day devoted to art, combine the BACC with a gallery district.
The galleries of Charoen Krung

The "Charoenkrung Creative District", described in our guide to Charoen Krung and Bang Rak, is the densest area for wandering from gallery to gallery:
- Warehouse 30: restored Second World War warehouses housing contemporary art galleries, design studios, shops and cafés.
- River City Bangkok (Soi Charoen Krung 24): a riverside art centre where established and alternative artists take turns in large and small rooms.
- Speedy Grandma (Soi Charoen Krung 28): a gallery-bar from 2012 in a former shophouse, conceptual and experimental art, with exhibitions, talks and workshops by emerging Thai and foreign artists.
- TCDC (1160 Charoen Krung Road): a creativity and design centre housed in the former Grand Postal Building.
Street art

Street art is part of the landscape. Around sois 28, 30 and 32 of Charoen Krung you will find murals by Alex Face, Roa and Vhils; in Talat Noi, walls have been painted since the 2016 Bukruk Urban Arts festival. They evolve: it is a stroll, not a list.
Bangkok Art Biennale 2026-2027
The next Bangkok Art Biennale is scheduled from 29 October 2026 to 28 February 2027 under the title "Angels & Mara", and takes over temples, museums and venues across the city; Wat Pho is announced among the sites. The programme, venues and tickets are published by the organisers and by TAT: check them before you go.
Practical tips
- Check each venue's hours: galleries often close one or two days a week.
- Group by area: BACC near Siam, galleries in Charoen Krung.
- When it rains, art centres are a good option: see what to do in Bangkok on a rainy day, and our free activities.
- To reach Charoen Krung by boat, see the Chao Phraya River and our transport guide.
