Tight budget: Lub d and ibis

Lub d Bangkok Siam, on Rama I Road, is two minutes on foot from BTS National Stadium: beds from about 600 THB, private rooms from about 1,500 THB. The atmosphere is social and noisy. The ibis Bangkok Siam, in front of the same station, has functional rooms and a very central location, with the Jim Thompson House and the malls within walking distance; limits: paid breakfast (about 500 THB), compact rooms and a deposit on arrival.

Mid-range: Novotel and Centara Grand

The Novotel Bangkok on Siam Square, on Soi 6, is a short walk from BTS Siam and National Stadium; paid breakfast and higher rates in high season. The Centara Grand at CentralWorld has an outdoor pool and rooftop bars, with access to the CentralWorld mall.

Palace: Siam Kempinski

The Siam Kempinski has a covered walkway to Siam Paragon, four or five minutes on foot from BTS Siam. Limit: a high price and a mall that is very busy during the day.
