Where to stay in Bangkok at a glance

How this selection was made

The 15 hotels below exist and are taking guests in 2026. We chose them for their location (near a BTS station, an MRT station or a boat pier), their category and their price level, in line with the areas recommended in our guide Where to stay in Bangkok. This is not an objective ranking or a tested review by Bangkok Authority: prices are indicative nightly rates for a double room, taken from booking platforms (indicative prices that vary by season: check the exact price for your dates on Booking). They vary with dates, availability and current offers. Always check the up-to-date rate on the hotel's own website or a booking platform before deciding.

One more thing to know: many hotels show their rates followed by "++", meaning 10% service charge and 7% VAT on top, or about 17.7% more on the bill. The details are in our Where to stay in Bangkok guide, in the section on "++" charges.

Hostels: dorm bed or private room

For a solo traveller, a dorm bed is the cheapest option in Bangkok. In this table, prices are given per dorm bed and per private room, not per double room as elsewhere in this article.

Tips for paying less

  • Choose your season: from November to February, the cooler dry season pushes prices up, especially at Christmas and New Year. May to October, in the middle of the rainy season, has the best rates. See our guide to the best time to visit Bangkok.
  • Aim for the station rather than the area: a hotel ten minutes' walk from the BTS is often cheaper than one right next to the station, but heat and traffic make those ten minutes tiring. Compare the lines in our guide BTS or MRT in Bangkok and work out the trip from the airport with our page on the Bangkok airports.
  • Compare the total price: with the "++", paid breakfast and the deposit asked at check-in, the headline rate can rise by nearly 20%.
  • Beware of unregistered rentals: in Thailand, renting for less than 30 days is illegal without a hotel licence. Prefer a hotel or a registered guesthouse.

Luxury hotels and palaces (from 8,000 baht/night)

The best hotels in Bangkok: quick selection by profile

If you want the short answer to "best hotels in Bangkok", here are the picks from the tables above (our selection, not a tested ranking):

Common mistakes: booking the cheapest hotel twenty minutes' walk from a station (at 35 °C, that time costs more than the saving); choosing a hotel "in Sukhumvit" without looking at the map, since some addresses are at the end of a long soi; forgetting the "++" and the deposit; and picking a west-bank riverside hotel without checking its shuttle timetable. From Suvarnabhumi, the Airport Rail Link goes to Phaya Thai, with a BTS connection, one station from Siam.
