Halloween: where to go out in costume

Khao San Road, Bangkok

Halloween parties cluster in the districts where foreigners go out the most. On Khao San Road, bars and clubs hold costume parties, and the street fills with travellers in fancy dress. In Sukhumvit, around Nana, Asok and Thong Lo stations, bars and clubs run their own nights; see our guides to Sukhumvit and Bangkok at night. Entry fees, costume contests and themed nights are listed on each venue's pages; book a table if you are in a group.

Halloween with family

Some shopping centres, such as Terminal 21, decorate their halls with pumpkins and skeletons in some years and hold activities for children. Some theme parks, such as Dream World, run Halloween-themed events in some years. Check dates and hours on their official websites. For more ideas with children, see Bangkok with children.

Thanksgiving: expat dinners

Sukhumvit, Bangkok

Thanksgiving, on the fourth Thursday of November, is celebrated mainly in international hotels and in restaurants popular with Americans living in Bangkok, especially in Sukhumvit. They serve turkey, stuffing, mashed potatoes and pumpkin pie, as a set menu or a buffet, sometimes with a brunch the following Sunday. These dinners book up early, and each venue publishes its own menu and prices: compare them before choosing. Prices are not reproduced here because they change every year.
