SEA LIFE Bangkok Ocean World is the capital's big aquarium, on levels B1 and B2 of the Siam Paragon shopping centre (991 Rama I Road), right by BTS Siam station. Over about 10,000 m², it shows marine and freshwater animals: sharks, rays, penguins, jellyfish, tropical fish and an underwater tunnel. The visit follows a signposted route through themed zones and takes an hour and a half to two hours. It is a safe bet with young children and an air-conditioned refuge when it rains or is too hot; tickets are much cheaper online than at the counter.
Highlights

The big tank and its sunken ruins
The largest tank is decorated with statues and stone remains that evoke a drowned temple, with sharks passing behind. You see it from the windows and from the underwater tunnel, where you walk surrounded by water. It is the most photogenic moment of the visit.

The tropical fish
Large aquariums recreate rivers and reefs, with shoals of colourful fish. Take time to look closely: this is the part toddlers enjoy most.
Sharks, rays and penguins
These are the star animals of the route, along with the underwater tunnel. Times for any feedings and presentations are best asked at the front desk on the day of your visit.

Tips
The child ticket (ages 2 to 11) costs 799 baht online and 1,199 baht at the counter; adult tickets cost more and vary by platform and offer, so compare the official site with resellers before paying. Book the day before or the same morning rather than queuing at the counter, and pick a weekday slot. The inside is heavily air-conditioned: bring a light layer for children. To extend the day, the neighbouring centre offers the food court and cinema of Siam Paragon: see our page on shopping in Siam and our guide to Bangkok with children.
