Prices and hours from the Tiqets Wat Arun page, read on 30 October 2026; the 200 THB fee comes from our page on Wat Arun and recent guides, so confirm it at the counter. No plain entry ticket appeared on the Tiqets page that day.

Buying entry: the ticket office is enough

There is no time slot to reserve: you pay at the entrance. The Tiqets audio guide gives commentary to play on your phone; check whether the entrance fee is included before paying, as the page did not show it.

The ferry from Tha Tien

From Tha Tien pier, next to Wat Pho, the Chao Phraya crossing takes a few minutes and costs a few baht, paid in cash at the pier's ticket window. It is the simplest route. The Grand Palace is on the other side of the river, ten minutes' walk from Wat Pho.

Sunset: the light before closing

The temple closes at 6 pm, and one site mentions last entry around 5:30 pm. For evening light, arrive around 4:30 pm: you see the prang in full sun, then golden. Photos of the lit-up temple are better taken from the riverbank. Our guide to sunset viewpoints suggests other spots.

When a guided tour is worth it

Wat Arun takes about an hour, and the prang does not need a guide. A tour makes sense if you want to link it to Wat Pho: the Wat Pho and Wat Arun guided walking tour on GetYourGuide, or the equivalent Tiqets option. Dress code applies: shoulders and knees covered, see our page on temple dress.

FAQ

How much is the Wat Arun entrance fee? 200 THB for foreigners, paid at the gate (our page, October 2026); the price can change.

Can I book a ticket in advance? Not the plain entry. Tiqets offers an audio guide or guided tours.
