Private tour: your guide, your pace
This is the most expensive format, and the simplest if you travel as a family or struggle with crowds and heat: the guide adapts to your pace, hotel pickup saves you finding the right pier, and breaks are decided between you. In the results seen, one listing states lunch and entry tickets are included and another does not: read the "included" section for the date you choose. See the offer.
Private tour with boat: the full day
This private tour lasts about seven hours and adds a boat crossing of the river. Entry fees (about THB 500 for the Grand Palace and THB 300 for Wat Arun according to the listing seen) and lunch are not included. It suits you if you want a long morning plus an afternoon at your own pace. See the offer.
Small-group tour: the simplest choice
This is one of the best-selling tours in Thailand on GetYourGuide (ninth in the country ranking in October 2026): about five hours, ten people at most, an English-speaking guide, boat and water included. The starting price is the lowest in our selection, but the listing says entry fees are paid on the day at the ticket counters; another listing of the same product states they are not included. Either way, bring cash (see below). See the offer.
"Sacred & Local" tour: with the flower market
Same duration of about five hours, with a stop at the flower market in addition to the three sites, and an English-speaking guide. Worth considering if the Grand Palace alone does not give you a feel for the neighbourhood. See the offer.
Grand Palace, Wat Arun and Wat Pho guided tour
Another guided visit of the three sites, at EUR 21.66, rated 4.7 out of 5 from 486 reviews. Fewer reviews than the small-group tour: compare group size and meeting point before choosing. See the offer.
What is not included / the traps
- Entry tickets: the Grand Palace costs THB 500, Wat Pho THB 300 and Wat Arun THB 200 for foreign visitors (prices seen in October 2026), about THB 1,000 in all. The Grand Palace takes cards; the other two temples often need cash. See our pages on the Grand Palace, Wat Pho and Wat Arun.
- Dress code: shoulders and knees covered, no sleeveless tops, no shorts or short skirts, closed shoes preferably. Checks are strict at the Grand Palace; some listings warn that entry can be refused. Details in our guide to the dress code in Bangkok's temples.
- The "palace is closed today" scam: a very friendly stranger tells you the palace is closed today and offers a tuk-tuk tour for a few dozen baht. The route ends in a jewellery shop or at a tailor. With a guided tour you have a meeting point and a guide who spares you this trap, but keep the reflex: believe only what you see at the official entrance. See our article on scams in Bangkok.
- Closures: the Grand Palace can close for royal ceremonies, so check the official calendar (restrictions are likely around Sanam Luang in December 2026).
- Works: one listing mentions that Wat Arun has had works limiting the climb up the tower; the listing cited was several months old, so check current access.
Which offer to choose?
- Budget or first visit: the small-group tour.
- Family or reduced mobility: a private tour, to adapt the pace to the heat.
- Couple, fond of the river: the private tour with boat.
- Curious about neighbourhood life: the "Sacred & Local" tour with the flower market.
- Independent traveller: you can also go alone with our pages; the value of a guide is mostly historical context and time saved.
Booking at the best time
Choose the morning slot: the Grand Palace opens at 8:30am and the midday heat makes the visit harder. To plan the rest of the day, see Rattanakosin island, the most beautiful temples in Bangkok and where to eat near the Grand Palace.
