Source: 1991-2020 normals from the Thai Meteorological Department (TMD) Bangkok Metropolis station, see the best time to visit Bangkok. The TMD counts March as part of the Thai summer. It feels hotter than the temperature suggests because the air is humid; the first isolated storms can appear late in the month. PM2.5 fine-particle pollution is still possible: check the air quality index.
Crowds and prices in March
March leaves the high season: fewer visitors than in January and February, and hotel rates falling, though not as low as in the rainy season. Thai families travel more during the school holidays, which generally begin around this time: beaches and weekend excursions are busier than the city. March is a good compromise if you can handle 35 °C. See where to stay in Bangkok and the Bangkok travel budget.
Events in March 2027
There is no national public holiday in March 2027: banks, government offices and temples keep their usual hours. The month mostly sets the stage for April, with Chakri Day on 6 April, then Songkran, a public holiday from 13 to 15 April 2027: the most popular hotels book up as early as March. For the year's events, see festivals and events in Bangkok. Concert and exhibition programmes for March had not been published in October 2026; check venue websites before booking.
