Walking Street at a glance

What Walking Street is

Walking Street is Pattaya's nightlife street: neon, nightclubs, beer bars, seafood restaurants and go-go bars. To be plain: it is also a red-light district, very visible, with hostesses and touts outside many venues. You can simply walk, have dinner or a drink and nothing more, but you should know where you are going. After violent incidents filmed on video, police announced stricter rules for bar security staff in April 2026.

Hours and prices

The street is closed to vehicles in the early evening, around 6 pm according to several guides; roadworks or exceptional closures can change this. Before 8 pm it is quiet and you can have dinner; activity builds from about 9 pm and peaks between 10 pm and 2 am.

On budget: access is free and nothing is owed before you order. A drink's price depends entirely on the type of bar: an ordinary beer bar is nothing like a go-go bar. We have no official 2026 price list: do not trust a figure from a blog and always check the menu. In go-go bars, travellers report "lady drinks" billed at 250 to 400 baht each (anecdotal, not official), the source of most bills of several thousand baht.

Safety and scams

  • Inflated bills: ask for the menu with prices before ordering, pay for each drink as you order and do not open a tab.
  • Drinks for hostesses: you can always politely decline; sign nothing and do not accept a "minimum spend".
  • Currency exchange and fake notes: change money at a posted exchange counter and count your notes.
  • Pickpockets: keep your bag in front of you and your phone out of back pockets.
  • Touts with "show" menus: do not follow them upstairs; if a price is not displayed, walk on.
  • Carry only the cash you need and leave cards and passport at the hotel (keep a copy).
  • Drink in moderation and never leave your glass unattended.

A family evening: cabarets and night markets

The Alcazar and Tiffany's cabarets

Alcazar and Tiffany's are two cabaret theatres with transgender performers: costumes, dance, lip-sync and parody, in a seated hall, nothing explicit. The shows last about 75 minutes.

  • Alcazar (Pattaya Sai 2): four shows a day, at 5 pm, 6:30 pm, 8 pm and 9:30 pm according to resellers. Standard ticket from about 27 dollars online, VIP seat from about 53 dollars on GetYourGuide; at the box office, one blog reports 900 baht (VIP) and 1,800 baht (VVIP). Arrive 15 to 30 minutes before the show.
  • Tiffany's (Pattaya Second Road, North Pattaya): three shows a day, at 6 pm, 7:30 pm and 9 pm according to resellers; prices by seat category from about 800 to 2,200 baht. One reseller says children under 100 cm get in free.

Online prices are often reserved for holders of a non-Thai passport; check the show time and category before buying.

The night markets

For local food and a stroll without the bar atmosphere, night markets are the best alternative. Thepprasit Night Market opens Friday to Sunday, roughly 5 pm to 11 pm, with food, clothes and crafts. Jomtien's night market opens in the late afternoon until about 11 pm, but sources differ on the days: confirm before going.

Other ideas

In the evening, the Beach Road promenade, the Pratumnak Hill viewpoint and the Sanctuary of Truth night visit are calm options. See Pattaya: things to do.

Where to sleep if you go out (or not)

Hotels near Walking Street are noisy at night; if you want a quiet night, choose Pratumnak, Jomtien or Naklua. Our guide where to stay in Pattaya by area covers each area.

Getting back to Bangkok

If you go out in the evening, plan to sleep in Pattaya: return trains and buses run in the daytime or early evening depending on the service (confirm times), and a night taxi to Bangkok is expensive. See Pattaya from Bangkok for routes and fares.
